Spring Forecast: Sunny With a Chance of Retro Chic

With spring just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about Sunnies! From aviator to oversized, and rectangular to retro, there are plenty of styles to choose from. My absolute favorite pick is the Cat Eye, which originated in the 1950’s.

Feline frames first graced the faces of some of the greatest style icons of our time, including Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. The revival of the Cat Eye has been spotted all over young Hollywood. Whether your face is heart-shaped, oval, square, or round, there is a pair out there that will work for you! Choose from a variety of frames, including solid-colored, embellished, and tortoise shell, shown above. Right now, I’m loving Tory Burch’s simple and chic black frames. Can’t wait for the sun to come out of hiding? Simply pop out the lenses and sport this timeless look year round!

Fashionable Philanthropy

TOMS Shoes was created solely for improving the well being of children around the world. The One for One movement states, "With every pair you purchase, TOMS Shoes will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need." Blake Mycoskie founded the company in 2006. Mycoskie began his crusade for kids upon taking a trip to Argentina, where he observed extreme health concerns, poverty and children running around with no shoes. As of April 2010, TOMS Shoes has given over 1,000,000 pairs of new footwear to povern-stricken children worldwide.

Modeled after traditional Argentinian footwear, TOMS Shoes are functional, Eco-friendly, and fashion forward. The sneaker inspired shoe can be dressed up or down. Pair them with jeans, a vintage tee, and cardigan sweater, perfect for the collegiate on-the-go. Dress them up with a chic sun dress and fitted blazer for a daytime date. Help TOMS Shoes keep up the momentum of their charitable endeavors and step out in style.

Spotting the trend...

While shopping on my lunch break earlier in the week, I noticed an assortment of faux fur coats, handbags, belts, and leggings all dawning the unmistakable marking of the leopard. Animal prints add instant sex appeal to any outfit and when done correctly, ooze an heir of stylish sophistication.

That being said, do not over do it. A little bit of leopard goes a long way. Head to toe spots are overpowering and tend to look cheap. Adding subtle notes of the bold print conjures interest and can be easily incorporated into any wardrobe. Carefully selected animal print accessories will continue to work year after year.

Check out this fabulous Anne Klein leopard print watch I scored at Nordstrom Rack for only $24.97

The Kardashian sisters know how to work the red carpet. Here, the combination of leopard pumps with a little black dress adds a hint of seduction without looking trashy.

A leopard print clutch makes a bold statement by instantly spicing up an ensemble for a night on the town.

For an everyday look, wrap your head around this... The leopard print scarf provides versatility. Mix and match with basic black, brown, white, or even a splash of red.

What I'm Wearing...

As style icon Coco Chanel once said, "A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future." While I'm sure plenty of successful women have ascended the social ladder fragrance free, why not scale it in style?

My latest obsession is a relatively new fragrance by Coach. Poppy, which launched last July, is a stimulating sultry gourmand of unique notes including a decadent crème brûlée, red candied rose petals, Southern gardenia, jasmine, cucumber melon, and whipped marshmallow. Can we say delicious?

Upon receiving the fragrance as a gift, I had yet to sample a spritz, now I never leave home without it. Retailing for a mere $60, Poppy is "e-scent-tial" for the youthful sophisticate.

Red Carpet Report

Last night, Hollywood's most regal players cascaded down the red carpet for the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Here are my picks for "Best Dressed" of the evening...

Catherine Zeta-Jones radiated in a floor length Monique Lhuillier gown. The textured hunter green bodice was an impeccable match with the starlet's olive-toned features. The look was completed with an elegant up-do and minimal Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds. Simply stunning!

Sandra Bullock looked soft and elegant in a crystal-kissed Jenny Packham gown. She wore a sterling silver chain cuff with pave and rose cut diamonds. Her newly trimmed bangs were a blunt contrast to the femininity of the blush gown. Gorgeous!

Kyra Sedgwick dawned an orange Emilio Pucci gown. The mixture of turquoise earrings with stacked gold bangles complimented the ruffled Bohemian look perfectly!
